Let Summer Begin!

Summer means many things to many people. Long summer evenings spent sipping sweet tea after warm days of swimming, gardening and enjoying friends and family. Summer is ice cream cones, popsicles and lemon shakes. Summer is meant to be savored. Fourth of July picnics, camping, vacations and reunions. It has been said that 3 elements bring people together, fire, water, and food. If you like to host parties or family get togethers, think in those terms and you will never be let down. There is just something about sitting around the fire pit roasting hot dogs and marshmallows after a long day swimming or boating that makes the day complete. Happy, satisfied and full. Do you ever find it hard to sleep after a day of this? Probably not. Lets look at the 3 things we just spoke of. Before you begin your summer season, what can you do to make this happen. Realizing that not everybody has a pool or a fire pit, what are some creative options that might make that a reality? Here are some ideas that may be helpful in getting that outdoor summer environment ready for you. Now this one may not be for the beginner, but I like the concept and it allows for a stray spark without calling the fire department LOL.

If you going more for the simple and easy way, then here are some other suggestions. Not everyone has the money for something elaborate so this can be an easy alternative and you can find these in most junk heaps or scrap yards and they actually work quite well.

If you are seeking another option there are low cost fire rings you can purchase for a modest cost, there are basic block fireplaces and more elaborate, yet simple designs with blocks from your local home improvement store. Natural stones are always nice, but not all rocks are suitable. Some natural stones with pop and crack under direct heat and can be a hazard when sitting close to the fire, so it pays to do some homework. I would say this is a very doable option between the two, that could easily fit into a budget and you may even have some of these things in your building materials already. This is also one idea which could be tailored to your liking, and you could swap out gravel for sand, bricks for landscape blocks, etc......

Next time we can work on some water ideas to boost your surroundings and keep you cool. Not everyone has money or room for a swimming pool, but there are some cool ideas that might be just up your alley. Oh, how I love summer. Thanks for visiting and be sure to stop back.

Our Sundays are for praising the Lord, relaxing, restoring, and savoring good food. The menu today is stuffed shells, with some garlic bread of course, and red velvet cake to top it off. We are going to focus our thoughts today on gratitude. Gratitude for the mothers that raised us, the Lord that made us, and the bounty he gave us.
